EVALUATION METHOD OF PROPERTY OF HORNY LAYER OF SKIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of noninvasively, quickly and easily evaluating a property of a horny layer of the skin.

SOLUTION: The evaluation method of the property of the horny layer of the skin in the present invention includes: measuring an infrared absorption spectrum by infrared spectroscopy with the horny layer of the skin of a human being as an object; dividing a superimposed peak of an α helix and a random coil and a peak of a β sheet from the peak of an amide I absorption band derived from a protein secondary structure in the infrared absorption spectrum; calculating an area of the superimposed peak of the α helix and the random coil and a peak area of the β sheet and calculating a peak area ratio β/α defined by [the peak area of the β sheet]/[the area of the superimposed peak of the α helix and the random coil]; and evaluating the property of the horny layer of the skin with the value of the calculated ratio β/α as an index.
