<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make correct control of a variable valve by causing a rotation position of a control shaft to be easily kept at all lift positions when a motor stops. <P>SOLUTION: The variable valve system of an internal combustion engine rotates a control shaft 28 within a predetermined angle range from an electric motor 8 through a speed reducing mechanism 70 comprising a worm shaft 71 and a worm wheel 72 to variably control an open/close amount of an intake valve according to the rotation position of the control shaft 28. A friction applying device 80 including a one-way clutch 87 is used to apply friction to the worm shaft 71 only when the intake valve rotates to a lower lift side. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
