<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for stably manufacturing a high-clean steel having a relatively high Si concentration by employing an ESR method for manufacturing a high-clean steel with non-metallic inclusions reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The manufacturing method is a method for manufacturing a steel containing s-Al as an additional element or an impurity element and containing at least 1.0-2.0 mass% Si. A consumable electrode 5 is melted in the vicinity of the upper surface of a molten slag 6 in a metal mold 2 by applying power between the consumable electrode 5 and the metal mold 2 while moving down the consumable electrode 5, which is suspended, toward the molten slag 6 from the above. In an ESR method in which an steel ingot 9 is obtained by capturing droplets of the consumable electrode 5 in the vicinity of the bottom of the metal mold 2 after allowing the droplets to pass through the inside of the molten slag 6, the vicinity of the upper surface of the molten slag 6 is substituted with a mixed gas, which contains at least oxygen and comprises an inert gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
