摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical network optimization method in which, on an optical network, a new link satisfying an increasing on-network traffic demand is added with time between nodes, and in which an existing link is not normally altered, so that a network having no minimum energy consumption is generated. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is a method that reduces energy consumption of the entire network while supporting traffic demands to be needed at all points of time. A network includes plural source nodes and plural destination nodes. The network is represented by graphs of nodes connected by an edge. Each node represents an optical network element, and each edge represents a path that connects two optical network elements. Each edge is labeled with a demand. A non-bridge edge having the lowest demand is eliminated from the graphs, and the lowest demand is added to a non-bridge edge having the highest demand.
