PURPOSE: An uplink and downlink signal error correction apparatus of an xGPON system and method thereof are provided to simultaneously managing FEC(Forward Error Correction) encoding and decoding process delaying time by including two error polynomial count blocks. CONSTITUTION: An error correcting unit(140) includes an error location searching unit(141), an error size calculation unit(142), and a logical sum calculation unit(143). The error location searching unit calculates a location of errors by using Chien algorithm. The error size calculation unit calculates the size of errors by using Forney algorithm. The logic sum calculation unit calculates logic sum for the calculated error location and the error size. |
