<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming material capable of forming a latent image that can be read by irradiating the latent image with infrared and inspecting reflected infrared as a visible image, an image holding medium having the latent image formed of the material, an image inspection device for the latent image, and an image forming apparatus including the device. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming material includes an infrared absorbent having a light absorption peak in an infrared region, and a fluorescent material that emits fluorescent light by being irradiated with excitation light.
