<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device capable of eliminating down time by speedily decreasing temperatures of a body of rotation and a belt member to new target temperature when a target temperature for temperature adjustment is decreased. <P>SOLUTION: A blower fan 203 is arranged such that in the state of separation, a current of air reaches a fixing belt 51 beyond the conveyance surface of a recording material through a heating nip N but in the state of contact, a current of air flowing toward the fixing belt 51 is blocked by a pressure belt 52. When a target temperature for the temperature adjustment of the fixing belt 51 is decreased, a control unit 141 exerts a first cooling mode in which the fixing belt 51 is cooled by separating the fixing belt 51 and the pressure belt 52 from each other. Thereafter, the control unit 141 switches to a second cooling mode in which the fixing belt 51 and the pressure belt 52 are brought into close contact with each other in the state of separation and the blower fan 203 cools the pressure belt 52. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
