PURPOSE: A method for reducing the quantity of impurities in a sample during protein purification is provided to effectively and selectively remove unnecessary impurities for reducing the load applied to a chromatography column. CONSTITUTION: A method for reducing the quantity of impurities in a sample during protein purification comprises: a step of contacting activated charcoal with an elution solution collected from a chromatography column; a step of contacting a flow-through sample from the previous step with an anion exchange chromatography medium; a step of contacting the flow-through sample from the previous step with a cation exchange chromatography medium; and a step of obtaining the flow-through sample containing a target molecule.
