<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dye having high solubility in an organic solvent. <P>SOLUTION: A compound expressed by formula (I) is provided. In formula (I), R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>each represents H, OH or sulfo; R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>each represents H or a group expressed by formula (i); and R<SP POS="POST">5</SP>represents sulfo or carboxy.
