<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tires, imparting a high elastic modulus and high breaking elongation, and having a low heat-generating property, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tires is characterized by comprising 100 pts.mass of a dienic rubber containing natural rubber in an amount of ≥60 pts.mass, ≥80 pts.mass of carbon black and ≥40 pts.mass of an inorganic filler, wherein the total amount of the carbon black and the inorganic filler is 120-180 pts.mass, and by comprising 0.5-4 pts.mass of silica coated with a coating containing the acetometallates of sodium and zinc.
