<p>An aqs. composition containing Bi and Mo oxides and aq. colloidal silica is formed; ammonium (bi)carbonate is added to pH 5 - 7.5; dried and calcined at 400 - 550 degrees C. The composition may also contain 0 - 5% P oxide, with SiO2 25 - 75 wt.%, Bi : Mo mole ratio of >=1 : 3. The catalyst may be impregnated with a promoter of a Gp. V, Gp. VIII, alkaline earth or rare earth metal. The catalyst is partic. useful for the 2-stage conversion of methanol to formaldehyde.</p> |
