PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deterioration inspection device and a deterioration inspection method for insulator jumper wire that can confirm the degree of deterioration in a jumper wire in a hot-line state.

SOLUTION: The deterioration inspection device for insulator jumper wire comprises a main body part 11; mounting bodies 12a, 12b which are provided on the main body part 11 and detachably mounted on an insulator jumper wire J; a forward/backward moving element 23 which moves forward and backward through operation of a first insulation operation bar 1 and rotates about an axis through operation of a second insulation operation bar 2; an entering element 24 which projects from the front part of the forward/backward moving element 23 to penetrate between a strand (j) and a strand (j) constituting the jumper wire J, thereby forcibly expanding the gap between the strand (j) and strand (j) through the rotation to expose a strand in the interior K; and imaging means for imaging a part nearby the tip part of the entering element 24.
