<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cyclically store data in a magnetic tape having a normal recording method for determining a logical position without including any index information and with a tape mark. <P>SOLUTION: A magnetic tape device 1 superscribes data on a logical partition to cyclically store it, the partition being configured on a magnetic tape 2 having a plurality of laps arranged as storage areas in a traveling direction. The magnetic tape device 1 includes a cartridge memory 8 for storing the number of tape marks (TM) attached between archives of the laps and the total number of TMs before the start end recorded in the laps before the start end of the partition. A main control unit 6 has a start end/tail end transfer control function 6B operated by a writing command from the outside to transfer the start end/tail end of the partition to a next lap when a writing position is in a tail end region, and a function 6C of specifying, because of the transferred start end, the number of TMs of the lap from the transfer source to the transfer destination and adding it to the number of TMs before the start end. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
