[Also in Division C3] Carpets, paper beard, woven and non woven textile fabrics are backed with a latex composition formed from a copolymer prepared from up to 10% by weight of an α, #- ethylenically unsaturated acid, at least 50% by weight of a conjugated alkadiene, and at least 20% by weight of an olefinically unsaturated nitrile, at least one of said alkadiene and nitrile monomers having an olefinicallyunsaturated group of formula -C=CH || R R wherein R is hydrogen, or C 1 _ 2 alkyl and at least one R is alkyl. Suitable monomers are selected from butadiene, isoprene, and piperylene, acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile, and methacrylic acid. The composition may contain fillers, vulcanizing agents (e.g. ZnO), and thickeners. The composition may be applied by a 'spreader bar. |
