PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which conventional radiation shield materials including a lead, a lead alloy, and an antinomy-containing material have many drawbacks such as that shields made of these materials are heavy since a certain thickness is needed to sufficiently exert their shielding capability and these materials cannot be used in a high temperature environment due to their low melting point, and to solve the problem of tungsten shields, although the use of tungsten as shields has been discussed, in which it is difficult to cut and process the material due to its high density, hardness and brittleness and difficult to deal with space between shield materials since the material is brittle particularly in parts at which flexibility and the like is needed.
SOLUTION: There is provided a breakthrough radiation shield that is light and flexible, can be produced at a low cost, can block radioactive contaminants, being the biggest problem the world has been facing, for a long period of time, and allows solving the large number of problems caused due to the use of tungsten as shields.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
