<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color display method which performs image quality correction suitable for the characteristic of electronic paper of a reflection type color display device with three display panels laminated and improves display quality, and a color display device. <P>SOLUTION: A color display device has a reflection type color display element 10 with three display panels laminated and a drive control circuit 29 for controlling the color display element 10 on the basis of image data of three primary colors. The drive control circuit includes: a color space conversion part 31 for converting the image data of three primary colors into color space image data; a classification part 32 for classifying images into a plurality of types on the basis of evaluation criteria concerning brightness, hue, and chroma of the images; a brightness correction part 33 for correcting the brightness of the color space image data on the basis of the correction characteristics for each classified type; a chroma correction part 34 for correcting the chroma of the brightness-corrected color space image data; and a three primary color conversion part 36 for converting the chroma-corrected color space image data into the image data of three primary colors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
