<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternative transfer device requiring only a smaller space. <P>SOLUTION: A mandrel wheel 3 and a transfer wheel 11 are rotated around rotation axis lines 3' and 11' which are parallel to each other, and holding devices 5 and 7 for a target object 1 are provided in the peripheral range thereof. The distance between the holding device 5 and the rotation axis line of the mandrel wheel is variable, and the mandrel wheel 3 and the transfer wheel 11 are arranged adjacent to each other so that the target object is transferred from a conveying device 4 to the holding device 5 through the transfer wheel 11. A holding device 7 of the transfer wheel 11 is attached so as to pivot around a pivot axis line 13 through a transfer pivot arm 12, the pivot axis line is extended parallel to the rotation axis line 11' of the transfer wheel.
