COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, ROUTER DEVICE, AND ROUTER SWITCHOVER METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a router redundancy technique enabling prompt communication restart at the time of router switchover, while suppressing capacity required for a standby router.

SOLUTION: A communication system includes: a plurality of user terminals; one or more active routers for communicating with the user terminals through first communication lines; a standby router commonly used by the one or more active routers; and a server connected to the one or more active routers and the standby router through second communication lines, for executing authentication and address allocation for the user terminals. The standby router includes: a switchover event detector for detecting the occurrence of a switchover event in any of the one or more active routers; and a switchover controller for transmitting an address reset induction message to prompt a user terminal, communicating with the active router having the detected occurrence of the switchover event, to reset an address.
