The device (10) has a sheath made of dielectric elastomer material, placed around a wall of a medium and high voltage switching component and occupying an intermediate space between the wall and an internal side surface of an open cavity (7) of an overmolding jacket (6). The sheath is provided with a gripping unit formed of elastomer band (8), removable tabs, rigid bars and rigid tube, projected outside the space. The gripping unit is designed so as to allow extraction of the sheath out of the space when tensile force is exerted on a removal unit of the component. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a medium and high voltage switching device.
