The device (D) has a rigid gripping element (2) comprising an open concave surface (3) that is adapted for covering a convex part of an object i.e. filtration module membrane, between its ends. The gripping element comprises an engagement unit (4) with a hoist on a side opposite to the concave surface. The concave surface is arranged as a prismatic or cylindrical surface. An anti-slip coating (k) is arranged on the concave surface. The gripping element includes a set of protective strips (10). An independent claim is also included for a method for handling a filtration module membrane.
