The apparatus (1) has a cylindrical separating chamber (9) for separating carbon dioxide-enriched flow of a fluid at sub-ambient temperature. The separating chamber is placed below a fractionating column (11) when the apparatus is operated. A cylindrical envelope (5) surrounds the fractionating column and the chamber. A perlite (21) is placed between the envelope and the column, and a conduit (13) withdraws the carbon dioxide-enriched flow from the column. The chamber exhibits diameter equal to that of the column. The column and the chamber are connected by a cylindrical ring (23). An independent claim is also included for a method for distillation of carbon dioxide-enriched flow of fluid.
