<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimmer capable of maintaining a separation distance between end portions of a light-shielding member and of enhancing an extinction rate, and further to provide a projector. <P>SOLUTION: A dimmer blocks a light beam made incident thereto and adjusts an amount of passing light. The dimmer comprises: a pair of rotating portions 50a and 50b having rotational axes 52ax and 52bx that interpose an illumination light axis OA of the light beam therebetween and extend along a direction substantially perpendicular to the illumination light axis OA; and a pair of light-shielding portions 60a and 60b that is supported by the pair of rotating portions 50a and 50b, is formed by extending substantially parallel to the rotational axes 52ax and 52bx, is driven by rotation of the rotating portions 50a and 50b and blocks the light beam. In a state that the amount of passing light is a minimum value, end portions 64a and 64b of illumination light axis OA sides of the pair of light-shielding portions 60a and 60b are opposite to each other and have positions different from each other in an illumination light axis OA direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
