<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer capable of effectively suppressing readhesion of hydrophobic stains on fibers during cleaning. <P>SOLUTION: The polymer is produced by an essential step of polymerizing a vinyllactam-based monomer (monomer composition) as an essential component in the presence of a polymerization initiator and a polyoxyalkylene-based compound. The polymer essentially contains a structural unit (p) originated from the polyoxyalkylene-based compound and a structural unit (a) originated from the vinyllactam-based monomer, wherein the content of the structural unit (p) is ≥50 mass% and ≤90 mass%, and the content of the structural unit (a) is ≥10 mass% and ≤50 mass%.
