<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical pencil in which the protruding movement and the storing movement of a writing part and a knocking part from front and rear end parts of a shaft tube are smoothly carried out and the smooth delivering movement of a writing lead can be attained. <P>SOLUTION: The mechanical pencil has an operation part 3 relatively rotatably operated around a shaft to the shaft tube, a guide tube 12 receiving rotational movement based on the rotational operation of the operation part, first and second sliding pieces 15, 18 arranged movably in an axial direction in the guide tube, and first and second cam members 16, 17 moving the first and second sliding pieces in the axial direction along with the rotational movement of the guide tube.
