A main combustion chamber has a number of stepped grates one above the other, forced draught being supplied to each of these independently. An after burner chamber, thermally insulated from the main furnace, has separate means of firing and a separate forced draught supply. Both forced draughts may be regulated in accordance with the heat produced in the separate chambers. The draught to be main chamber may alternatively be controlled in relation to the soot content in the after burner exhaust gas.
|
