The switching element (10) has substrate layers (12a,12b) formed with conductors (20,22) connected with an electric consumer (16) and a voltage source (18b) respectively. A switching portion (30) is provided with a spacer element (26). The conductor (22) is electrically separated from the conductor (20) in an open switch position. The spacer is formed such that the switching portion applies the compressive force on substrate layers to make the conductors to contact in a closed switch position. The separation of conductors is performed by yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) laser. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for forming the switching element; and (2) a method for forming the circuit configuration.
