PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector that estimates a target on a plane surface to adjust focus.

SOLUTION: A projector includes: imaging means for imaging an area including a target to which an image is projected; distance measuring menas for calculating distance data relating to clearance between the target and the imaging means from imaging data obtained by the imaging means; plane surface estimating means for estimating a plane surface corresponding to the target from the distance data; and focus adjusting means for adjusting focus of the image to be projected on the basis of information relating to the plane surface.
