<p>A display unit (12) in this HMD is divided into the following: a main section (210) that forms image light; and an output-port section (214) that has an output port that outputs the formed image light into a viewer's eye. Said main section and output-port section are connected to each other so as to be separable via the application of an external force. With the HMD being worn on the viewer's head, when a first external force is applied to the output-port section (for example, a partially-reflective mirror (260)) in response to said output-port section contacting a member on the viewer's face that is located at, near, or in front of the viewing eye and protects said viewing eye, said first external force causes the output-port section to detach from the main section.</p> |
