<p>The invention relates to a process for the neutralization of red mud residue resulting after alumina preparation from bauxite. According to the invention, the process consists in diluting the residue with deionized water at a solid : liquid ratio of 1:7 and titration with HCl, in two stages, for 260...300 min, until the pH value decreases from 12 to 6.124, where, in the first stage there is performed a titration with HCl 0.025 M, at a speed of 0.7...0.8 ml/min, while stirring at 200...250 rpm, and in the second stage there is continued the titration with HCl 1.2 M, at a speed of 0.4...0.5 ml/min, while stirring at 300...350 rpm, to result in a residue neutralization up to a pH value of 6, after which various metals are exploited from the phase mixture in order to obtain an ecologically-friendly residual mud.</p> |
