NITROGEN OXIDE PURIFYING CATALYST

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen oxide purifying catalyst having the same level of purifying capacity as noble metal and made of a comparatively inexpensive material.

SOLUTION: The nitrogen oxide purifying catalyst is made of Cu2O as material and subjected to surface oxygen removal treatment by plasma treatment for reducing the proportion of oxygen atoms. The nitrogen oxide purifying catalyst thereby has an electron orbit where the electronic number of Cu atoms in the surface in contact with nitrogen oxide is high to a certain extent and the Cu atoms have an energy level near Fermi energy. Capacity of exchanging electrons with the nitrogen oxide is thereby improved to produce an effect of having the same level of purifying capacity as noble metal.
