<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emit outgoing light of a light emitting element mounted in a light emitting device to a given direction by reflecting the light with a reflection member and thereby adjusting light emitting characteristics of the light emitting device, i.e., the directivity of the outgoing light, without changing the light emitting characteristics of the light emitting element, and to protect the reflection member from the outer air to suppress the aged deterioration. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting device 100a, where a light emitting element 1 disposed on a mounting substrate 101 is sealed with a sealing resin 102, includes reflection members 110a to 110d which are disposed on the mounting substrate 101 so as to enclose the light emitting element 1 and reflect outgoing light L from the light emitting element 1 toward an area above the mounting substrate 101.
