<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure regulator to regulate the pressure applied to the breast within a breastshield chamber during a pumping cycle, and to vary that pressure in a cycle that maintains a minimum vacuum. <P>SOLUTION: A breastpump, manual or motorized, includes a mechanism to regulate pressure change, e.g., vacuum, within the breastshield chamber, including in some cases to a maintained minimum pressure that is less than ambient (atmosphere).
