The method involves connecting a combustion engine (3) and an electric machine to a transmission input shaft (8) of a gear box over planetary gears (7) under formation of an electro-dynamic drive system. Increase of transmission input torque enabled during increasing torque of the electric machine is compensated over a braking torque for increasing generator power supplied by the electric machine when creeping a powertrain (1) over the electro-dynamic drive system and when driving at traveling speed such that a total traction force at an output (5) remains unchanged. An independent claim is also included for a control device for a motor car.
