DATA RECORDING/REPRODUCING DEVICE AND DEGREE OF MODULATION DETECTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording/reproducing device with a small circuit scale and low power consumption.

SOLUTION: A data recording/reproducing device comprises: an amplitude adjusting section 10 for generating a 4-ch addition signal 11 that is suitable for detection of OPC information; an adder 13 for generating an RF signal 14 that is suitable for reproduction of data; a gate signal generating section 16 for generating a gate signal 17; a signal selecting section 15 that selects and outputs either the RF signal 14 or the 4-ch addition signal 11 on the basis of the gate signal 17; a reproducing signal processing section 82 that performs demodulation of the data by converting an output signal from the signal selecting section 15 to a digital RF signal 33; an OPC information detecting section 20 for generating degree of modulation information 27 and asymmetry information 28 from the digital RF signal 33; and a recording power adjusting section 69 for adjusting optimum laser recording power on the basis of the degree of modulation information 27 and the asymmetry information 28.
