The operator panel (1) has capacitive keys, which are coupled with an evaluation unit (6). The evaluation unit is provided to detect a simultaneous increase in signal on two keys and to select the key with the strongest signal increase as a service key from the two keys. The keys have an electrically conductive contact surface in each case, which are separated by an electrically insulating zone (7). Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a household appliance with a hob; and (2) a method for detecting the operation of a capacitive button from an operator panel.
