<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve visibility of small characters like subtitles in TV programs in an image display device equipped with a small-sized display. <P>SOLUTION: A video display device comprises: a character area extraction part for detecting and extracting an area including characters from one frame image in a moving image; a zoom ratio determination part for determining a zoom ratio for the extracted character area on the basis of a proportion of the pixel number in the one frame image to the pixel number when displaying the one frame image on a display; a character area size conversion part for converting a size of the extracted character area in accordance with the zoom ratio; a display size conversion part for converting the size into the pixel number for displaying the one frame image on the display; and a combination processing part for combining the character area after the size conversion with the one frame image after the conversion into the display size. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
