Sterilization appts - for medical equipment

Circuits and components of artificial respirators, anesthetic appts, incubators, etc. are cleaned by passing formaldehyde vapour through the tubes. After one hour excess gas is neutralised with ammonia for 10 mins. Programmer is used to control supply of HCHO and NH3. The formaldehyde is generated by heating a 40% soln. of formaldehyde to 80 degrees C. and the vapours are driven through the appts to be sterilised by a current of compressed air. After sterilisation and neutrailisation the appts is flushed with compressed air.
