<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving security in a communication system used to transfer information between at least a pair of correspondents. <P>SOLUTION: The communication performed between correspondents generally has steps of: one of the correspondents generating key pairs in accordance with the arithmetic properties of a prescribed algorithm, transmitting one of the keys, which is a public key, to the other party with a certificate, and generating and transmitting a signature using a private key of the key pairs; and the recipient transmitting the signature to the other correspondent and verifying the signature.
