An image processing apparatus includes a searcher. A searcher searches for a face image representing a face portion of a target person from a designated image, in response to an operation of an operator. A definer defines an expression of the face image detected by the searcher in a manner different depending on a race of the target person and/or a race of the operator. A processor performs on the designated image an output process different depending on the expression defined by the definer.
