THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES ENGINEERED LUMBER DERIVED FROM SCRIMS (100) OF BAMBOO TRUNK MATERIALS. THE SCRIMS (100) ARE MADE BY CRUSHING, BEATING AND/OR PRESSING BAMBOO TRUNK MATERIALS THAT WERE ORIGINALLY IN THE FORM OF LONG STICK. THE STICKS MAY HAVE UNDERGONE CERTAIN DURABILITY AND DIMENSIONAL STABILITY ENHANCEMENT PROCESSES SUCH AS BOILING TO REMOVE THE STARCH CONTENT, DIPPING IN PRESERVATIVE AND STEAM HEATING BEFORE DRIED TO THE MOISTURE CONTENT MOST SUITABLE FOR THE RESIN THAT IS USED IN THE MAKING OF THE ENGINEERED LUMBER BEAMS OR BOARDS. THE STICKS ARE THEN CRUSHED BY PASSING THEM THROUGH A PAIR OF CRUSHING ROLLER SIMILAR TO A SUGAR CANE CRUSHER A FEW TIMES UNTIL THE STICKS ARE FURTHER DISMANTLED INTO BAMBOO SCRIM, I.E., A MASH OF LONG FIBRE STRANDS (110) EACH HAVING WIDTH BELOW 1/4 INCHES. THE SCRIMS ARE FURTHER ALIGNED IN PARALLEL FASHION, ADHERED AND COMPRESSED IN A MOULD TO FORM A BLOCK (140). THE BLOCK (140) IS FURTHER CURED TO FORM A LUMBER (150). THE DESIRED FINAL SHAPE AND SIZE OF THE LUMBER IS ACHIEVED BY TRIMMING AND SANDING. |
