<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator that can illuminate a wide area with its cost reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The refrigerator 1 includes: a storage compartment 5 having an opening on the front surface thereof; a storage case 10 for storing objects to be stored, and supported slidably backward and forward; a transparent small article case 11 that slides backward and forward on an upper surface of the storage case 10 to open/close the storage case; and an illumination device 30 having an LED as a light source, and for illuminating the interior of the storage case 10.
