METHOD FOR INDUCING AUTOLYSIS IN INFECTIOUS BACTERIA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing the number of Pseudomonas aeruginosa which are pathogenic bacteria by modulating the extra-cellular concentration of bacterial cell signalling molecules, which has no harmful side effect and has little probability of being evaded by pathogenic bacteria in near future.

SOLUTION: The ratio between acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) signalling molecules inducing rapid cell death (or autolysis) of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas quinolone signal (PQS) signalling molecules is put into an imbalanced state by selective removal (bonding or decomposition) of cell signalling molecules originated in lactone.
