<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To share a mechanism between for separating a plurality of process cartridges from an image carrying belt accompanied by an operation of process cartridge exchange or the like, and for switching a full color mode and a monochrome mode, and thereby to save a space for evacuating a process cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes mode switching means for switching a full color mode which allows all color primary transfer rollers 31 to contact with photosensitive drums 1, and a monochrome mode which allows only a monochrome primary transfer roller 31K to contact with a photosensitive drum 1K. A monochrome process cartridge 9K used for an image formation in the monochrome mode is arranged in the deepest side from an aperture 2. A cartridge tray 26 is provided movably in a state when the photosensitive drum 1K of the monochrome process cartridge 9K arranged in the deepest side from the aperture 2 in the monochrome mode is contacted with only the monochrome primary transfer roller 31K. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
