<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for treating kitchen wastewater which can ensure residence time of oil separated from the kitchen wastewater and can efficiently decompose the oil included in the kitchen wastewater even when installed indoors. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus 1 for treating the kitchen wastewater is provided with a septic tank 30 in which the kitchen wastewater flows, two shuttering boards 31a, 31c which partition the inside of the septic tank 30 to a first region 32 where the kitchen wastewater flows in, a second region 33 where oil in the kitchen wastewater is separated and decomposed and a third region 34 where treated clarified water flows in, a container 50 which is arranged at a surface layer part of the second region 33 and in which a chemical treating agent for decomposing the oil is arranged and a stirring device for stirring in the container 50. The container 50 has a perforated wall which has pores for making the oil flow in the container 50 at its upper part and a bottom part which is constituted of a nonporous wall for blocking outflow of the oil at its lower part.
