<p>The external screw thread on the neck portion of a container is interrupted to form at least one gap in each turn of thread. The gaps in the thread may be arranged in vertical alignment, the leading end of the thread adjacent the gap is given a tapered form and the trailing end of the thread is square cut. The closure cap has a continuous internal thread for screw engagement with the threads of the neck portion and is produced from a resilient material such as polyethylene, nylon, polyurethane, any polyolefin or material which is similarly flexible. When the closure cap is screwed tightly on to the neck portion the neck portion the continuous threads of the cap are deformed into the gaps in the threads of the neck portion.</p> |
