The silencer (1) has a housing (2) provided with a condensate collection area (6) in a housing interior (4) at an underside (5) of the silencer. A tube assembly (3) leads into the housing and out from the housing. A condensate blowing on pipe (8) is arranged in the housing interior and connected to the tube assembly at an input side and aligned to the condensate collection area at an output side, so that a partial exhaust gas stream (9) acts on the collection area during operation of an internal combustion engine. The exhaust gas stream is guided by the condensate blowing on pipe. An independent claim is also included for a method for removing condensate from a silencer.
