NETWORK ARCHITECTURE, LOCAL MOBILITY ANCHOR, AND MOBILITY ANCHOR GATEWAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network architecture capable of transferring an existing IP packet flow established at a mobile node dynamically from a wireless access technology currently in use to other wireless access technology, in response to an instruction from a mobile node.

SOLUTION: The network architecture comprises a local mobility anchor 26 which registers a binding between a home network prefix of a mobile node 10, and a care-of proxy address of mobility anchor gateways 16, 22. A binding is also registered between a new home network prefix or an existing home network prefix of a mobile node and an IP packet flow F2 to be transferred. The existing home network prefix of the mobile node 10 has been already associated with the care-of proxy address of the target mobility anchor gateway 22.
