1358400 Processing apparatus EASTMAN KODAK CO 5 July 1971 [3 July 1970] 31388/71 Heading G2X In a photographic processing apparatus, flexible sheet or strip is guided in a sinuous path through a tank (5) by an endless belt 4 passing over driving rollers 2, pulleys 5 and idler rollers 3, the latter being provided with a means 6 to deflect the belt away from the roller to prevent compression of the photographic material. The means 6 includes a convex deflector 8, coated with P.T.F.E. around which the belt travels while the material 9 passes about the idler rollers, the deflector being attached to a plate 14 movable with respect to the roller to vary processing time. A bar 16 with a hook 18, for attachment to the belt, has a clip(s) 23 for attaching the material thereto, so that it does not contact driving rollers 2 which are provided with an annular groove for the belt. On exit from the tank, the material 9 is unhooked from belt 4 by a member (24) Fig.6 (not shown) whose wedge shaped end (25) engages between the belt and the base of the hook, thereby to separate the two parts; the belt then passes on whilst the bar 16 is collected by a receptor device. A cylinder (33) Fig.8 (not shown) is also placed at the exit, to absorb liquid from material 9 by means of an absorbent packing (38) through which the liquid passes to a perforated duct (34) where it is sucked away through pipe 37. Cylinder (33) may also have a groove for the belt, which is coated with P.T.F.E. or provided with an idler collar or rollers to reduce friction. The temperature and circulation of processing agent flowing through each tank is regulated by a hollow body (42) Fig.9 (not shown) having a heating resistor (48) and a cooling circuit 46 controlled by thermostat circuit including thermometer (45), liquid entering at an inlet (43) passes through filter (42) to a central duct whereby a pump (49) delivers it to the tank. |
