Nuclear reactor control is effected by pressure adjustment of a neutron absorbing gas contained in the hollow rods 2. The gas pressure in 2 is varied by valves 24, 25 which determine the gas flow between 2 and the high and low pressure reservoirs 4, 6. Valves 24, 25 incorporate needles 26 controlled by pressureresponsive bellows. In a modification, the needles are controlled by pressure bellows or capsules which incorporate an internal spring which functions as an analogue computer and a datum adjustment is effected by a predetermined control of the capsule internal pressure.</p> |
