PURPOSE: A method for estimating the usage of power for producing a hot rolled coil and a device thereof are provided to estimate the usage of power according to a kind of the hot rolled coil by modeling a relation between a steel grade and an intrusion rate of a slab and the usage of power through neural net algorithm and changing a parameter of the neural net algorithm based on a difference between the usage of power and the usage of power outputted by the modeling. CONSTITUTION: A neural net modeling unit(220) models a relation between the usage of power and basic information of a slab for manufacturing a hot rolled coil by using neural net algorithm. A difference calculating unit(230) calculates a difference between the usage of power consumed for manufacturing the hot rolled coil and the usage of power outputted by the modeling. A parameter changing unit(240) changes a parameter of the neural net algorithm to make the difference less than a reference value. The basic information of the slab includes a steel grade, an intrusion rate, the width, and weight of the slab. The neural net modeling unit performs modeling according to a kind of the manufactured hot rolled coil.
